Maintenance Mode

Put the public site behind a branded maintenance page while you work — admins can still use wp-admin.

Where to find it

SiteNivo → Maintenance Mode

Controls

  • Master Active / Inactive
  • Source: Built-in Template (Free) · WordPress Page (Pro)
  • Templates: classic-dark, minimal-light, construction
  • Title and Message fields

How to use

Choose a template and copy

Keep the message short and include an expected return time if you can.

Activate

Turn Active On and save.

Verify logged-out

Open a private window — visitors see maintenance; admins typically still access wp-admin.

Deactivate when done

Turn Inactive so the normal site returns.

Pro

Using a WordPress page as the maintenance source is a Pro option.

Notes & limits

  • Logged-in administrators can usually still access the site while Maintenance is On (bypass for work).
  • Returns a holding page suitable for short downtime — purge caches after enabling/disabling.
  • Pair with Coming Soon for pre-launch vs temporary maintenance.
